Corporate Entertainers Helps You Book the Right Performer

Picking the Right Performer for Your Event

Once you’ve been tasked with planning an event with live entertainment, you find yourself in a difficult position. Dozens of questions are bubbling up about where you can find performers, how you know they’re going to be a success, and whether or not they’re also headlining at a competing night. There are a few things you should take into consideration when you’re drawing up a shortlist of potential performers to play for your event. Consider the demographic and tastes of your audience. Ask what kind of event you’re putting on: is it a corporate function where the CEO addresses the whole team, a party for your clients, or a fundraiser?

It’s important to realize that you don’t have to do it all alone. The team here at Corporate Entertainers have been giving event planners advice and full-service assistance booking top of the line performers since 1972. We’ve spent years building relationships with veteran performers and exciting new talent alike. Talk to us about your goals, your budget, and all of the details you need. We do the legwork for you: we’ll direct you to the right acts, we help you with the contract, and we have the contacts to make sure that you have a backup plan in case of an emergency.

You can also start by taking a look at our roster – we work with acts across North America, and many do travel. Reach out with a request if you’ve already found the act that’s right for you. As you start your search, keep these things in mind:

Your Audience’s Taste

Cater to your audience’s demographics (not just your own). If it’s going to be a college-age audience, you may want to look for a stand-up comedian whose style includes social commentary. If it’s a fundraiser for an older or mixed-age audience, a cover band that does hits from across the decades is bound to have the crowd singing along. If it’s a corporate function meant to show appreciation for your clients or reward your staff, a live musical act can be an evening’s highlight, while an emcee can keep the transition between keynote speakers smooth.

What Kind of Event Is It?

There is a right act for every type of party, and you should always keep in mind how the performance is going to fit into the rest of the evening. For example, it’s usually better for the entertainment to get on stage after the food has been served and those impatient bellies satisfied. It’s even harder for most bands to compete with food, especially if it’s the kind of act that works best when people are singing along or dancing.

Travel Arrangements

Most of Corporate Entertainers’ acts travel, but you should keep in mind that you will have to negotiate the terms of travel with the performer. Local acts are always the easiest to find, but if you want to bring in something specific and you have the budget, you can really make a mark by bringing someone in from out of town. If you plan to do so, make sure you book early so that you can include them in all of your promotional material and really generate some buzz.
