There’s No One Like Debra DiGiovanni For Corporate Events

As one of the more recognizable and accomplished comedians in our roster, we’re proud to recommend Debra DiGiovanni for any corporate or charitable event planners who need a certain extra bit of prestige for their upcoming soirees!

In the early 2000s, Debra had a whirlwind breakthrough into the world of comedy. After graduating from Humber College’s first Comedy Writing program, she was nominated for the 2002 Tim Sims Comedy Encouragement Award and the Canadian Comedy Award for the Best Stand-up Newcomer. In the next year, NOW Magazine called her stand-up show one of the top three must-see acts. CTV then nabbed her for a 2004 Comedy Now special, which helped earn her a 2005 nomination for Best Female Stand-up. After that, Debra hit the Just for Laughs festival and went across Canada in a supporting role for international star Russell Peters.

Fast forward a few years, and now she’s headed out for her 9th Just for Laughs appearance, hit over twenty cities for her first solo show (“The Late Bloomer Tour”), and won that Best Female Stand-up award three times in a span of five years. She was a Top Ten finalist in the extremely competitive Last Comic Standing television series and has filmed specials for Gotham Live, Stand up in Stilettos, and Stand and Deliver. By 2009, she won a Gemini for Best Televised Comedy Performance. If you’re surfing around the television, you can find her laying down the law as a regular juror on MuchMusic’s cancelled (but syndicated!) Video on Trial (and even on its spin-off show, Stars on Trial). Debra’s a permanent panelist on the Canadian edition of Match Game, filmed in Montreal and Toronto and airing on The Comedy Network. And if you want to see more of Debra online, tune in to her ongoing web series Cute Boy of the Week with fellow host Dan Magro. (You can also follow her on Twitter—unlike some comedians, she actually uses the dang thing: @DebraDiGiovanni).

As a host, she’s performed at so many high-profile events and galas that she’s sure to bring the utmost professionalism, poise, and a whole lot of laughter to any Master of Ceremonies or hosting gig you have in mind. Some of her hosting duties have included the 2007 Canadian New Media Awards, the 2007 Canadian Comedy Awards, the Genie Awards (alongside Sandra Oh of Gray’s Anatomy fame), and an evening at the Gemini Awards. And she’s got the voice talent chops from appearances on popular radio shows like CBC’s The Debaters.

Youthful crowds will no doubt recognize and appreciate Debra from her work on MuchMusic and on other television shows. Slightly more mature workforces will enjoy her refreshingly honest takes on dating and relationship woes, as she’s been dubbed “the best comic to see after a messy breakup!” Italian-Canadian (or similar) groups and organizations will relate to her ability to poke fun at being raised in a wonderfully ethnic household. And others—as most audiences certainly can attest—will simply find her straight-ahead, high-energy, self-deprecating, and playful style a highlight of your evening’s proceedings and an unforgettable night of comedy.

If your celebration, trade show, comedy night, or corporate fundraiser could use a familiar face and consummate professional, call us now and we’ll get the wheels turning!
